At the site of where it all began, our taproom is located 6.5 miles east of Highway 101 in sunny and picturesque Blue Lake, CA, just a stone’s throw from the Mad River.
Decorated to incorporate aspects of the Brewery’s history as well as it’s tribal identity, The Mad River Brewery and Taproom offers a refreshing and laid-back atmosphere. Visitors can get both tried-and-true flagship beers like Steelhead Extra Pale Ale and our Jamaica Red Ale as well as small-batch fan-favorites and interesting seasonal varietals that indulge our experimental side, exclusively on tap in our taproom throughout the year.
Welcoming vibes, pet-friendly, and a true gathering place, the taproom features, in addition to indoor bar and seating, extended outdoor dining space that is complementary to the pleasant weather and lush views of our location. Whether you’re a local in search of a river-day end-destination, or a beer-lover looking to experience a special piece of Humboldt, our beer garden is a must-stop where craft beer and unbeatable atmosphere collide. Order pickup and reservations available.

If I had to live on one food only, it might be Paninis...Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google.Ric ZarzyckiNovember 7, 2024Stopped by recently for a bite at the new Mad River kitchen. Had the Cuban panini sandwich and it was outstanding. Pork was super tender and tasty, generous meat portions and overall delicious balance of traditional tastes. Washed down with some Steelheads.Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google.Raluca AstileanAugust 21, 2024We were two people, after a long drive and we thought we could eat this much. It was a lot, but it was good. Impossible to finish, though. The pulled pork and the wings were perfectly cooked. The brisket was not as good as we expected, but at least the overall vibe of the place made it all better. It was a laid back evening, with good music and a nice sunset.Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google.nathan bondJuly 5, 2024Although we arrived close to closing, we still had a great experience. The first thing we noticed was the atmosphere! Everyone seemed to be enjoying the live band that was playing. Second thing to mention was the food. In addition to the food tasting fabulous, the proportions were surprisingly large! The cornbread balls with the honey butter, phenomenal! Staff was busy, but friendly. We look forward to coming back when they're not about to close to get the full experience!Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google.Hope BowserJune 3, 2024We always enjoy our time in Blue Lake when Mad River Brewery is our destination.
